Hi there Lashon, I hope that you can answer a question for me. I like your blog and you give such great advice...My husband is about to deploy and I have 2 small children. Do you have any suggestions about ways to keep them busy.
My Crazy Life as A Navy Wife response:
Hi Carolyn, So glad you wrote to me...Listen, When my husband Patrick would deploy, I would shorten my hours at work and try to spend more time with the kids.... I have 3 kids and my oldest son Elijah played music, my daughter Lyric would swim and my baby Patrick ALWAYS played sports. I figured that I would just keep them as busy as possible. I remember those days so vividly Carolyn because Patrick was always gone..so I had no choice, I had to LEARN to be two parents and sometimes that meant pulling double duty and each one of my children needed something different.
My advice would be to sit both of your kids down and talk about their feelings and then decide ways to keep them occupied....I remember my baby Patrick would sometimes just want to lay on the couch with me...Now, when his father would return from deployment.....NO WAY!! (SMILE)
I understood that each child needs changed with each deployment so this was constantly changing...
You have what you need already, you just need to sit down and figure out your choices...Remember, this is simply a suggestion, It worked for me and I hope it will help you.
Hey, keep me posted and If there are any other areas you want to discuss. Feel free to post your question here on my blog. Thanks again...God Bless!
