EVEN DOING CHORES CAN RESULT IN FAMILY TIME

I speak to my kids as often as I possibly can....I wanted to talk to them about their chores. I noticed something Very interesting one Saturday morning...We were all in different parts of the house cleaning......TALK ABOUT A LIGHT BULB MOMENT....Our weekends are so busy here.

STOP STOP STOP STOP STOP STOP

There is always a full list of things to do. Our children have their Friday chores and laundry needs to be done, the house needs to be cleaned, errands need to be run...STOP STOP STOP STOP STOP STOP

I thought about it, If everybody is running around separately there is a great probability that disconnect could creep its ugly head....NOT IN MY HOUSE...

DON'T YOU WISH IT WAS AS EASY AS SIMPLY PUSHING A BUTTON

My husband Patrick and I decided that instead we would do some of the weekend chores with our kids... I know this is a little unorthodox but for all of you that follow this blog, you know I do what's best for MY FAMILY.

This approach as great as it sounds, may not work in your home.

I figured if I am doing the chores WITH THEM I can use that time to talk and communicate with them as we worked TOGETHER.

I realize that as parents in 2012 we watch our kids everyday FACE DIFFICULT TIMES. As each new problem arises we have used the TEACHINGS OF THE BIBLE in our pursuit of raising them the best way we possibly can. The Bible encourages parents to take time to communicate with their children.

Together Patrick and I are finding ways to use each moment as a opportunity to teach our children.

  4. Good morning Devoted wife:
I am still laughing at your comment. I was thinking about my chore list at the age of 11 and how drastically it differs from my own 11 year old son. Are we slowly getting soft and allowing our children to dictate their own chores?
Whatever the situation, my kids have chores because I believe they worked well for us growing up. If I felt that there was no lesson in this process, then I would have to re-evaluate my choices....Again, I always say that what works for my family may or may not work for yours. Your circumstances may be different.
As for watching television and texting...ALL KIDS text (smile)....
thanks for your input and come back real soon!!

    1. Good Evening to you NAVYISMYLIFE2010..I was glad to see that old school teachings are still alive and well in America. My grandmother was a remarkable woman that raised us all from the teachings of the bible. Even today all these years later her teachings, her love and her prayers still fill my heart.
I remember each prayer she ever said and I know its because of my grandmother, that I am the woman I am today. Thank you for stopping here and sharing your views. They are welcome here and I would love to hear more stories about the teachings of the Bible. Feel free to share your story sometimes in the comment section.
      Until then, God Bless.

    1. Hello Anonymous...I have to disagree, not all kids are Lazy..Some have really great work ethic...Maybe your own personal experiences have drawn you to that conclusion, but I pray that you will open up your heart and see that our children are learning to be more responsible.
Here is my email...Lets talk (smile)
