TEACHING MY TEENAGER THE VALUE OF DOING HIS CHORES

I have three children and I remember when there was always lots of people in here. It would be the kids, their friends and always some sort of activity. NOW my little house is getting empty. My oldest son Elijah moved out, My daughter Lyric is never home. Since Lyric has her own car, friends and a busy life outside the house, she has less responsibilities inside the house. Oh yeah, and she leaves for college in a few months. Then there is my youngest son Patrick. He is now 15 years old and he does the biggest portion of the chores.

That is where our youngest child Patrick comes into play. He is the "Primary" child at home now. So he has lots of cores that he has to do. Well, At least that is what he says. I think he has his fair share (Smile) He is extremely lucky to do these simple chores. My life was different growing up so I think we have given him a fair amount. I really miss him as a baby but realize that he is now a young man.

ME AND MY BABY BOY 15 YEARS AGO

I remember growing up in Chicago. I lived with my two sisters in a house with lots of chores, lots of rules and little discussions about it. If my father said do something, you simply did it with no questions asked. Fast forward to 2015 in the Campbell home...Things are a lot different in our home. Chores are done here also but in moderation. Now I know that many of my readers will disagree with me here and that's OK. Each home is run differently.

I would love to hear about how you divide the chores in your home. Leave me a message in the comment section.

There are so many different ways that families do chores.  I pray that you will read "Our Story" and then apply whatever works for you.

In our home, Patrick is in charge of all of the garbage, mopping the floors and vacuuming. Not a hard list of things to do but geared solely on teaching my baby boy responsibility and the importance of structure.

Talk with your kids and explain the value of doing chores

So proud of him and He is a great kid. He is on the honor roll at Douglas Anderson School of the Arts here in Florida. Did I mention that he loves his parents (Smile)

But his biggest love is playing his beloved Trumpet. I am happy that he uses his time wisely, you know, There are a lot of other things he could be doing.
I am grateful that my husband and I have a REAL relationship with God. That relationship between us has guided us in parenting.  THANK YOU FATHER.
