My daughter and I had lots of discussions as she was growing up. I believe that middle school was the hardest for her. Peer pressure and self-image issues was a constant battle. With each discussion I reminded her that God's light shines through her and she was perfect just the way she was/ I know that as her mother I wanted to protect her from negative comments from other girls. I decided to share with her my struggle as a young girl growing up in Chicago.


I grew up having lots of issues with the way I looked. I spent lots of time picking out all of the awful things I saw in the mirror. I didn't know better. I was stuck and my outward appearance was what I put most of my energy into. Thanks be to our good LORD and His Word, for having shown me somewhere along my steps through this life, that His love is of my eternal soul above the fading dust around it. Thank you father for showing me my worth and giving me the ability to see my true self. I pray that you can see your true worth today. As a mother, I somehow found the right words to say to my beautiful daughter. She is now older and has become so strong. I thank you Father. Do you know that you are God's light and that you are beautiful? His Light shines a perfect beauty within us all. He brings out our best.

Thankful for my 3 kids that inspire and encourage me on a daily basis. I am so proud that God chose me to be their mother.

    My mom once told me "if you want to be up and running at 7AM then you had best be awake by 6:59 putting your shoes on." Remember that in Life ---> each step counts. Thank you Father for another day.
