Hello all and welcome back to my blog. Today I wanted to write a post about my youngest son Patrick. As you know, he plays the Trumpet at his high school Douglas Anderson School of the Arts here in Jacksonville. He loves his school and he loves playing his trumpet. More than all of everything he loves Jazz music the most.
Recently he and other students had the honor of meeting and playing with Internationally known Jazz saxophonist and Grammy winner, Ernie Watts. Ernie Watts came up to the school to teach a masterclass and to perform with the students. He would be there for a total of two days. On the first day he taught a wonderful master class to the Jazz Ensemble 1 class. In that class with his eyes wide open was my youngest son Patrick. He talked about Ernie for days and was more than excited to get to meet him.

Ernie Watts is a extremely skilled educator and saxophone player. He is committed to music education and has great work ethic.  His work ethic is one of the main reasons that my son Patrick wanted to take the time to meet him. He taught an amazing class and the very next night joined both Jazz Ensembles with a great performance.
The Jazz concert showcased both of the award-winning Douglas Anderson Jazz Bands. They had a rich sound that carried throughout the auditorium. Each band played well and got to play with Ernie Watts. Including my Trumpet playing son Patrick. ðŸŽºThere was really some great Jazz music and their special guest Jazz saxophonist, Ernie Watts stole the show! There was a point in the performance where Ernie actually had to take off his jacket. It was amazing.

Patrick could hardly contain his excitement. He performed and had a great time playing with Ernie. After the performance Patrick stuck around long enough to actually get Ernie to sign a poster from the concert.
Like I said, It was a great night, with a great performance and a chance for me to see my son Patrick perform at his very best. What about you? Have you recently had the chance to meet someone that you admire? If so, I would love to hear about it right here at the blog. Until then, I will be praying for you.

I would love to hear from you here at the blog. Send me an email, or leave a message in the comment section.
