First we moved to a new duty station. Then they had to start the process of meeting friends again. Now its the first day of school and they once again have the task of starting anew.  WE TALKED TO THEM ABOUT THEIR FEELINGS  My 11 year old son Patrick is about to begin the 6th grade. My 14 year old daughter is starting the 9th grade. Because there is so much going on with this major move, we decided to start immediately talking with our kids about the first day of school. Before we moved here to Cuba I was on the hunt for ways to spend time with my children that would not cost me a fortune. I decided that we would spend the day together as a family at JACKSONVILLE ZOO....Well, even the BEST LAID PLANS sometimes change. My day started with going out to breakfast with my daughter Lyric and my youngest son Patrick. My husband got me king crab legs (my favorite ) for lunch. We then continued the celebration with a wonderful ice cream cake and the highlight of my evening was the family singing Happy Birthday to me. Even though there is much fun in splashing around the pool, there are also some tips to prevent injury or even death.
