LETTING GO WITH LOVE, A LETTER TO MY SON ELIJAH ON HIS 19TH BIRTHDAY

MY SON ELIJAH AS A BABY 1992

Dear Elijah, my sweet first born son…Today is your 19th birthday and I can not help remember the first moment I laid eyes on you. You were so beautiful. I remember when they first handed you to me, I cried thinking, Lord Thank you for TRUSTING ME to raise this precious gift. Even then I did not want to let you go…Now as I look over the past 19 years my prayer is that you will continue to keep Jesus with you.

MY SON ELIJAH AS A MAN

You have to Pray and make the right choices. You will be faced with many choices in the years to come. I know in my heart that you will make choices that are healthy...CHOICES that will help you to be the man you are destined to become. I look forward to helping you make those choices, and guiding you towards manhood in the best way I know how. I have such high expectations of you and know that sometimes that scares you….But THERE IS NOTHING YOU COULD DO THAT WOULD MAKE ME NOT LOVE YOU.

ME AND MY SON ELIJAH TOGETHER 2011

Don’t worry Elijah, where ever your path may lead you my son, I will always be hiding in the shadows silently cheering and praying for you.
So today I am LETTING GO WITH LOVE as you prepare to live your life here in Florida. I will miss you son. Please remember to STAY FAITHFUL TODAY and tomorrow will take care of itself. Happy birthday Elijah. May God bless you in all you do, In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

  1. Wondering what I will do the day my kids are leaving home.....I feel your pain, we love them but at some point it is necessary to let them go and spread their wings. I will make sure I say a prayer for your son today.
