ONE-ON-ONE ALONE TIME WITH MY SON PATRICK AT THE JACKSONVILLE ZOO
Before we moved here to Cuba I was on the hunt for ways to spend time with my children that would not cost me a fortune. I decided that we would spend the day together as a family at JACKSONVILLE ZOO....Well, even the BEST LAID PLANS sometimes change. My daughter Lyric decided to spend the day at the MALL WITH HER FRIENDS.
(Can you believe she picked spending the day with friends over hanging with her mom?)
And my 19 year old son Elijah quickly FOUND SOMETHING TO DO and declined the offer of spending time with me also...That left me and my youngest son Patrick to head out for our day at the Zoo.

Now, Patrick is a simple kid. He is still young enough that occasionally he might spend a few moments with me. Although he loves video games, football and all activities with his Father, he joined me for a DAY AT THE ZOO. So when I told him we would pack a lunch and brown bag it, He agreed and was excited. See, I told you he was a simple kid...Since I am a season pass holder, the zoo was FREE....Since we brought our own lunch and our own water to the zoo, that also was FREE. After OUR ADVENTURE at the zoo we went to McDonald's and got 2 ice cream cones. We love having ice cream and this is the cheapest place in town!! The total cost of our day at the zoo was $2.00 but our time alone LAUGHING, taking pictures and sharing MEMORIES was PRICELESS. God Bless.

ReplyDelete@Natasha...Yes..Yes..I am CHEAP and I encourage you to look for ways to continue to stretch your dollar. These are tough times. Feel free to share any further ideas you may have for inexpensive ways to entertain the kids. Would love to hear them...God Bless.

ReplyDeleteNothing is more important than our families. When I read this I immediately started thinking about my daughter that just turned 12 years old(sigh)..they get big so fast and now at this agge, she really does not have a lot of time for me. I miss her as a baby. Your article made me think, I had better start thinking of ways to spend more time with her. So thanks for this idea, she has always enjoyed our times at the zoo.
