CARVING PUMPKINS WITH THE KIDS

FROM LEFT TO RIGHT: LYRIC PUMPKIN, MY PUMPKIN, AND PATRICK'S PUMPKIN COMPLETED

CARVING PUMPKINS WITH MY KIDS STARTED A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO. I WANTED TO FIND A WAY FOR THEM TO ENJOY THIS TIME OF YEAR. I LOVE THE FALL AND MEMORIES OF MY CHILDHOOD ENCOURAGE ME TO DO MORE THINGS WITH MY KIDS.

MY YOUNGEST SON PATRICK IS REALLY A PRO AT THIS PUMPKIN CARVING.

I HAD WONDERFUL PARENTS WHO LOVED US AND THEY DID THE VERY BEST FOR US.  BUT I CAN NOT REMEMBER A SINGLE TIME THAT WE WERE ABLE TO CARVE PUMPKINS TOGETHER AS A FAMILY.

I AM EMBARRASSED TO ADMIT THAT THE FIRST TIME I CARVED PUMPKINS WAS A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO WITH MY KIDS.

MY DAUGHTER LYRIC TOOK THE LONGEST CREATING HER MASTERPIECE

WE LAUGHED THE ENTIRE TIME AND DID SOMETHING UNEXPECTED.....WE GAINED MORE VALUABLE FAMILY TIME. SO WITH HALLOWEEN QUICKLY APPROACHING MAYBE YOU SHOULD TRY TO CARVE A PUMPKIN FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME.

HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY EVERYONE

I can not carve a pumpkin...Instead this year we tried a different approach. We drew faces on our pumpkins using permanent markers. the faces looked better and we did not have to worry about the pumpkins beginning to spoil. I was thinking, after all of these years, what took me so long to figure that out? Thanks for sharing this experience with your readers, I am such a fan of your blog!!

  3. Regina Adams...WOW. I am so grateful that you choose daily to be a part of this crazy navy life (smile) of ours. We have a lot of fun and try to love one another. We make mistakes but the good news is that we are learning every single day.

I love the Fall..Everything about the fall reminds me of growing up in Rhode Island. The smell of pumpkins always filled our house and we always carved pumpkins for Halloween. Reading the story of your kids carving their pumpkins for the first time made me smile.

  5. Good morning to you Sonya Owens. I love the fall to. I grew up in Chicago and as a child I loved when the leaves began to change colors and then they would fall from the trees.
My parents would tell all 3 of us girls that we had to rake the leaves up....We would jump into the huge pile of leaves and have the time of our lives.
As you say, you grew up in Rhode Island so I am sure you to were able to experience the beauty of the Fall and all that it has to offer. But even more than that...Don't you just love having such a wonderful memory to reflect on?
I just wanted to say THANK YOU FATHER for the beautiful trees and all the beauty of Nature.
