A STORY ABOUT MY BEAUTIFUL DAUGHTER LYRIC.....

ME AND MY BEAUTIFUL DAUGHTER LYRIC

COMBING MY DAUGHTER LYRICS HAIR HAS BECOME A LESSON OF LOVE
~ ORIGINALLY POSTED AUGUST 2011 ~

I Remember the day our little Lyric was born, She looked up at me and let out the loudest scream I have ever heard...WOW, I DID NOT KNOW she would still be screaming 15 years later. The very FIRST TIME I COMBED MY DAUGHTER'S HAIR I thought, this is going to be a breeze. I mean I use to comb my dolls hair, How hard could it really be? My daughter Lyric has very kinky thick hair. Little did I know with each passing year her hair would grow and develop into a life of its own.(smile)

Every morning I would use A spray bottle with water, then I would move on to the detangler, then I would start my daily workout of combing through her thick hair. I would always try to be as gentle as I possibly could...Then the screams.

Remember when I told you she screamed as a baby..Well, these were the kind of screams that made my heart ache.

I hated seeing her in so much discomfort so I learned a way to incorporate combing her hair into our SPECIAL TIME TOGETHER.

I made combing Lyrics hair, A LESSON OF LOVE.

Since getting her hair combed was such an emotional experience, I would use this time to get her to read. I would let her choose a book that she wanted to read and I would start on the very first page and try desperately to distract her from what was going on in her hair. In time she began to enjoy our READING ALOUD TIME and it eased her anxiety and made an absolutely trying time into a beautiful BONDING TIME for me and my daughter.

I am so proud of our daughter Lyric.

She is now 15 years old and has now began to do her hair alone. Though I am sad that she no longer needs me to comb her beautiful hair, I am so moved by the fact that she LOVES TO READ. When I see her alone in her room reading a book, I get a little nostalgic as I remember our READING ALOUD TIME. To this day I still remember those days so vividly.

We all have children and each one is so very different in their own way. We have to approach each area of concern in a way that brings out the very best within them. I hope my story inspires you to share your own experiences here on my blog.

God Bless
