Lesson Learned: I will be PATIENT while cooking

OH NO, I BURNED MY HAND

OK, As I get older I am slowly learning I don't now EVERYTHING! So I may never win any cooking awards with my culinary skills. I am actually not very good at all. (Smile) One of my favorite meals is baked chicken and the other afternoon I decided to prepare a baked chicken meal for my family.

It cooked PERFECTLY and was nice and golden. I reached in the corner drawer and got two hand mitts to take it out but there was only one in there. What? Where is the other one? I could not find it anywhere. So I put the one I could find on my right hand and just grabbed a regular kitchen towel off the counter. (BIG MISTAKE)

I new immediately that I made the wrong decision because when I reached into the stove to grab the chicken, The top of my left hand sizzled on the coils of the electric stove.

Horrible smell when flesh burns. Have you ever got a burn like this one? It scared me and It made me drop the chicken. WAIT! The chicken survived, it landed right on the door of the open stove. That was the good news. The bad news was I was in a lot of pain.

MAKE THIS PAIN GO AWAY

                                MAKE THIS PAIN GO AWAY

I admit I cried just a little bit. The truth is, I DO NOT handle pain very well. Just call me a cry baby. I am OK with that. I went to the doctor and thankfully it was not a serious burn.
It was Just a painful red circle that looked like the coils in the stove and also a small blister. The blister hurt the worse. Thank you Father that it was not a life threatening injury....BUT still quite painful. I ACTUALLY learned a very valuable lesson that day. Patience, Patience and more Patience. If I would of had patience and REALLY looked for that mitt, I would have never burned myself. I hope to hear from you soon right here on the blog. Until then, say a prayer for me and a speedy recovery and I will also keep you in prayer. God Bless.

  2. Unbelievable how God shows us in ways that only he can understand when its time to slow down and take it easy. I have to remind myself of this daily as I balance all that is going on at the Campbell home. I pray that you are finding that balance in your own home. May God continue to watch over you and your family.
