I asked 50 milspouses a question recently. I asked them "When did you first feel like a grown-up" and I received some really great responses. I was amazed at every one's honesty and felt like this would be a great topic for the blog. I decided to post the top 3 answers. what a joy it was to read through all of your responses.

THESE ARE THE TOP
RESPONSES TO OUR
QUESTION

MARY JOHNSON, VIRGINIA "I first felt like an adult the day my son fell down the stairs. Boy did I need a drink after that. He was such a big boy and barely cried. I had to suck it up and be strong for him. I knew that he was watching my every move."

NATALIE WILLIAMS,FLORIDA "I first felt like an adult the day my mom was in the hospital and I had to make quick, life-changing decisions about managing her care. I was scared and felt overwhelmed. I  gathered my composure and I just did what I had to do. Feels strange to think of it like that but it really made me a better person."

DIANA HOLLINGER, CALIFORNIA "I first felt like an adult when I moved out on my own. There is no reality greater than paying a mortgage all by yourself. I had to step into my big girl shoes really quickly."

Smile, We have all had to step up
and make quick decisions in our life

We have all had to step up and make decisions quickly, showed strength and answered a call greater than ourselves. Have you? Contemplate this question today and let me know what you would do. Until then, I will be praying for you.

  1. As we get older and start to branch out and get married and have children, our priorities change. My entire way of thinking also had to be adjusted. that is when I became an adult.

  2. Hello Lashon. I had to think for a minute but I am sure it was when I was up in the middle of the night with my newborn son trying to soothe him as he was screaming with Colic. My 18 month old daughter wakes up. I have 3 hours before I had to get to work, my husband was deployed and we had just completed a major PCS. Yes, that's when I knew!!!!
