The benefits of Eating fruits AND vegetables

I have never been one for eating healthy. OK so I am being truthful. I have always enjoyed fried chicken, cabbage, baked macaroni and cheese and the list goes on and on. I can still eat these things but over the years I have learned moderation. Being Diabetic has changed the way I look at food, prepare food and eat food.

BENEFITS OF EATING MORE
FRUIT AND VEGETABLES




Vegetables and fruits have ultimately changed every meal in our house. I try to eat as many fruit as I can throughout the day and incorporate my vegetables in my lunch and dinner. I have fought this from the very beginning. Its not going to happen overnight you guys (Smile)

MOVING FORWARD AND
NOT LOOKING BACK AT THE 
BAD HABITS I ONCE HAD

My husband Patrick cooks wonderful healthy meals for our family BUT I was not having that. I wanted fried foods and I wanted lots and lots of baked macaroni.....Boy was I stubborn back then. My husband Patrick loves me and he only wanted the best for me. I still did not want to listen... It was only when I got sick and was in the hospital that I realized the damage that I had done. Grateful to God that when I was in the hospital I had a great dietitian who was so knowledgeable. She took the time to show me ways to add more veggies into my meals and most importantly explained the benefits of eating fruits. Thank you Father for putting the right people in my life.

Praying that I will not have to go back into the hospital anytime soon. Thanking God that I am feeling better and changed my way of thinking. Has anything like this ever happened to you? Ultimately it is a day to day process for me. I know now that I simply have to think better AND remember that healthy choices for me means being here to experience my husband and children another day. I mean, who wants to be confined to a hospital bed when I could be running after my grandson Cameron.

Luckily for me, there are many fruit to choose from. You know what, I love cherries, watermelon and oranges. What about you? What are some of your favorite fruit? I do believe that if I really had to, I could live off these fruit for the rest of my life (Smile) I buy more fruit at the grocery store and the market than I ever had.

Even more than that, now I find myself stacking vegetables on my dinner plate.    Can you believe that? Me eating more vegetables. In what ways are you eating fruits and vegetables daily?
