Looking back at our memories together as I CELEBRATE your birthday Mom! I miss her so much. I was thinking about my mother today as my daughter announced that she would be tutoring kids in her spare time. She is the light of my life and she reminds me so much of her. You see, my mother use to tutor inmates and help them get their GED. I sat there with tears in my eyes thinking how blessed I was to have her as my mother and how blessed I am to have a daughter that shares her compassion and humility.

Happy birthday mommy We have very few photos from younger years. Most were destroyed when the basement flooded. Still, my heart is full as I flip through the few pictures I have of her. It's such a joy for me to see how much my daughter Lyric looks like her. They both are so beautiful. 

 No matter how much stuff we lost in that flood, we never lost our love. Through the good and bad times, My mother always remained strong. She was so loving and always made me feel so safe. As I left to join the Navy, She whispered in my ear, "Shon, you are going to be a great mother someday." And look at me now all these years later. A mother of three kids. Love you mom and Happy Birthday.
