A letter to my DAUGHTER Lyric as she prepares to graduate from High School

To my dearest daughter Lyric,  If I could give you just ONE THING in life, It wouldn't be all the riches in this world...Instead I would give you the ability to SEE yourself through my eyes...Only then could you see how much I love you. Only then could you witness just how proud I am of you AND only then could you see how much you mean to me.

I remember every second of your life as if it happening in slow motion...You have grown from my baby girl into a talented, smart, beautiful and amazing young woman...

As your mother I have failed at many things but my love has never stopped growing for you sweet Lyric. I can still remember looking at you when you were first born and thanking God for trusting me with you. You were so beautiful You were always looking around with the most beautiful brown eyes that I have ever seen. You were so little BUT you were ALWAYS engaged by sounds and always so inquisitive. I knew then that you my beautiful baby girl, Was going to be something special.

YOUR GRADUATION DAY IS
QUICKLY APPROACHING

My PRIMARY function as your mother has always been to help you grow into a young woman who shows love, has values, shows respect and who becomes INDEPENDENT. As your mother, I have always inspired you to DREAM and to find strength within yourself...

Look at you growing into such a beautiful young woman and also heading to FAMU.

You are going to achieve some amazing things when you get to FAMU. Stay committed to your studies and I encourage you to keep flying! You are my shining star and God loves you. Your independence and your strength has left me breathless these past few months and I have watched with amazement as you have grown into such a special young lady. (Now I am crying baby girl) These tears that I am shedding are not sad tears, only tears of JOY.

I am going to miss my baby girl

My sweet baby Lyric, I am filled with an endless stream of love for you. I PRAY that God will continue to guide your steps and keep you safe. This letter is given to you today as you embark on your next step and I am just so PROUD of all you have accomplished. A Honor student, a mentor, and a full scholarship for college shows me that you Lyric, Yes you, Are incredibly gifted and empowered to be all that you can be. I love you and I am so excited about your NEXT stage.
