Saying goodbye to my daughter Lyric as she heads back to FAMU to start her junior year of College. Oh its been hard to see her heading back so soon. I have enjoyed her so much and seeing her once again made me remember every single moment of her life. I really don't know what I am feeling. I have had to deal with so many emotions seeing her go away to college. Her visits home are so amazing and I feel so excited when I get to see her.

I can not believe it's been that long since I drove her to college years ago. So thankful that God used that time to bless her in a mighty way. Now, as Lyric heads off again, I will be praying that she will be safe and remain strong in her faith in God. I can't wait to see what God does in her life. Yes, I'm going to be sad, because now her absence is suddenly REAL once again. So while my daughter is creating her future at FAMU, I will be back here in Jacksonville supporting my youngest son Patrick as he attends his senior year at Douglas Anderson School Of the Performing Arts.

To God be the glory for His faithfulness and goodness for blessing me with a daughter that has made good decisions. What a joy it is to watch as she constantly chooses to serve God first.  God bless all of you mom's out there who may be dropping your kids off at college--it's not easy. I'll be sad for a few moments but I always get better with each phone call from her. I know that it may be hard right now, but I can tell you that it does get better. I can ASSURE you this new chapter is going to be a beautiful one! Trust me--God's got your child as well as mine covered. I know in my heart that my daughter Lyric is a child of God and my God will do better than this mama could ever do to protect and guide her throughout this college journey.

As I wave goodbye once again, I am so proud of her for trusting God through this college journey and so blessed that God brought me through my feelings of emptiness that I once felt. What an awesome God we have!

  1. God has been kind to my family. I see first hand how He is able to restore and heal. He has done more than I could ever ask or imagine. He's already done it. And He will do it again and again. We are seeing God for who He really is. And I'm grateful to tears for my family, friends, church and all of you.
