Hello everyone. Once again I have a great story to share about my youngest son Patrick. As you know he is a senior at Douglas Anderson School of the Arts here in Jacksonville Florida. He plays the trumpet and has been since he was much younger.
He is busy this year going on auditions, taking trumpet lessons and filling out college applications. He is always doing something. Whether its meeting new people or out spreading his love for God. He works tirelessly and I love the way he works. I can not contain myself when I hear about the things he does in this community.
There is a great musician here in Jacksonville and his name is Steve Strawley. He is a great man and he gave my son a private trumpet lesson. Patrick was so excited about this lesson and he was waiting all week in anticipation.
He went over and he had a great lesson. At the very end of the lesson, Mr. Strawley presented Patrick with a Flugelhorn. Not just any horn, but a horn that had character and a great history. A wonderful group of people decided that his particular Flugelhorn should go to a deserving student here in Jacksonville. They did not want it to be sold, they wanted to give it to a student that was not only deserving but someone who would take care of it and share its great history. That person was my son Patrick.

The horn belonged to a professional musician who sadly died of PKD Kidney Disease. His wife wanted to make sure that this special Flugelhorn went to someone who would actually play it and also a student who intended to study jazz. What a blessing. Just telling this story again gave me goose bumps. So many people made this possible and so many people have been touched by kindness. Patrick is so grateful for his Flugelhorn and he plays it beautifully. I love the kindness of strangers and I pray this story will inspire you as you read it.

This story needed to be shared for so many reasons. The great people that gave Patrick the horn and all of the great musicians that mentor young artists here in the Jacksonville area. I pray that each person that reads this will take a minute to read more information about PKD Kidney Disease. If you can, Please make a donation. We can save lives.
